Texas Football: 5 biggest stars Longhorns face in 2019
Oklahoma State is going to be a load for any defense to handle in Big 12 play this fall. There are three reasons why Oklahoma State under long-tenured head coach Mike Gundy could be so hard to deal with for opposing defenses this coming season. The first two are the potent and promising duo out of the backfield of redshirt freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders and redshirt sophomore running back Chuba Hubbard.
The third big reason why, and possibly the worst part of having to deal with the Oklahoma State offense, is rising junior wide receiver Tylan Wallace. Coming off a 2018 campaign where Wallace racked up 1,491 receiving yards and 13 total touchdowns allows him to be named as a top wide receiver not just in the Big 12, but the entire country.
Leaving Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb out of this list was a difficult move. Lamb is a bona fide star wideout in the Big 12 as are Reagor and Wallace. But I wanted to pay tribute to multiple teams here and the absolute vast array of skill position talent that the Big 12 brings to the table for the 2019 season.
There’s a good argument that Wallace should’ve won the Biletnikoff Award over Alabama’s Jerry Jeudy. But Wallace and Jeudy could be the two best returning wide receivers in the nation this season. Dealing with Wallace isn’t difficult because of his size. His underrated speed and agility to go along with clean and crisp route running complement his reliable hands and insane leaping ability.
