Yet another top five ranked 2019 high school prospect in the nation that Texas football will have to square up against this fall is a potential rising star for the Oklahoma offense, former five-star Ellenwood, GA, native Jadon Haselwood.

Rarely could a head coach like Lincoln Riley for the Sooners go into the heart of Georgia and pry an elite wide receiver prospect like Haselwood out of the clutches of the Georgia Bulldogs and SEC recruiting territory in general. This shows the reaches that Riley is starting to have for prospects that play on the offensive side of the ball.

However, if Riley is willing to give Haselwood a lot of early playing time this fall then he could find himself as a breakout candidate in his first year on campus in Norman. Haselwood will join other Oklahoma wide receiver breakout candidates like freshman Trejan Bridges and redshirt sophomore Charleston Rambo in this electric passing game for 2019.

While programs like the Florida State Seminoles, Auburn Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Clemson Tigers offered Haselwood, the Longhorns didn’t. It could be that Haselwood was already focused on Oklahoma out of the Big 12 and other SEC programs, but he could be a difficult challenge for the Texas secondary this fall.
