2. Both starting cornerback spots

The Competition: Jalen Green (RS-Fr.), Anthony Cook (So.), Kobe Boyce (RS-So.), Kenyatta Watson II (Fr.), D’shawn Jamison (So.)

Similar to the narrative surrounding the middle linebacker position battle for Texas football in fall ball, cornerback has a plethora of options but none that stick out as proven starters in the past. The most experienced options that the Longhorns are working with for the coming season are sophomore Anthony Cook and redshirt sophomore Kobe Boyce.

Two very intriguing future starting options for the Longhorns secondary include true freshman former-star Georgia native recruit Kenyatta Watson II and the former highly touted four-star cornerback recruit and redshirt freshman Jalen Green.

Texas has so much inexperience and so many question marks due to the losses of the former senior starting cornerback duo of Kris Boyd and Davante Davis. Boyd will be fighting for playing time with the Minnesota Vikings during the NFL preseason and Davis will be fighting to just make the roster for the Seattle Seahawks in Training Camp and the preseason.

The other legit option that Herman and Orlando have at cornerback to fill a starting role this year is the former wide receiver/punt and kick returner D’shawn Jamison. The former four-star recruit and special teams threat Jamison is about as versatile and agile as it gets for the Longhorns amid these five cornerbacks vying for a starting job this fall.
