1. Texas players are hypnotized to a 3-0 start in non-conference play

An off-the-field stint from Herman and the Longhorns that hit national headlines on Aug. 13 and 14 was the hypnotist that the coaching staff brought in for the team this week. Texas had a couple players even fall asleep while the hypnotism was going on.

This is a cool way for Herman to keep it fresh. Former head coaches had stale off-the-field antics that could wear down on the fan base ahead of the regular season, but this is a different way to keep everyone engaged. Hopefully this keeps the team loose and engaged throughout fall camp and on into the showdown against Louisiana Tech and the LSU Tigers.

Since there is such a thin gap between the end of fall camp and when the regular season begins, the Longhorns need to have confidence and momentum ahead of Aug. 31. Then Texas will have showdowns held in-state against LSU and the Rice Owls out of Conference-USA.

There will even be significant college football action before the Longhorns wrap up practice before Week 1. The Florida Gators will battle the Miami Hurricanes in a primetime “Week 0” showdown with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors taking on the Arizona Wildcats and former Texas A&M Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin in the night game on Aug. 24.
