Texas Football: 10 best moments in the career of RB Cedric Benson
3. Leading 2004 comeback vs. No. 19 Oklahoma State
Texas football and the No. 19 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys battled it out at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Nov. 6, 2004 in what would become one of the great game of the 2000’s for this program. Cedric Benson helped the Longhorns comeback from three scores down against Oklahoma State to win 56-35 in a massive second half effort.
Benson finished the game with 192 total yards from scrimmage and five rushing touchdowns. This 2004 Oklahoma State-Texas game is one of the great ones to rewind and watch over again. Especially with the tribute to Benson now, this was one of the best games to remember for him with Texas.
2. Career-high in rushing yards against Texas A&M
Beating down rivals is something that Longhorns fans should live for. Back in the 2000’s, the Longhorns still faced the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies in the Lone Star Showdown year in and year out. Both teams were still in the same division in the Big 12.
But Benson was a key cog in the Texas efforts to beat the Aggies in 2003. In a pivotal late November showdown between Texas and Texas A&M, Benson registered 283 rushing yards and four touchdowns. His insane amount of rushing yards was good for the best in his career in an individual game.
