5. Getting selected by the Chicago Bears in the 2005 NFL Draft

The 2005 NFL Draft presented an interesting cast of characters among the best prospects in the class. The first overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft went to a former Utah Utes quarterback that is still in the NFL today. With that top pick, the San Francisco 49ers selected Alex Smith (currently with the Washington Redskins).

Cedric Benson was selected at No. 4 overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2005 NFL Draft, just behind the former Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards. Benson was one of three former Longhorns selected in the 2005 NFL Draft. Another one of those three, linebacker Derrick Johnson, was also picked up in the first round.

4. Three consecutive 100-yard performances in 2008

The main reason for this being on the list for the best NFL moments for Benson is the fact that this is when he truly broke through with the Bengals. After being dealt from the Bears ahead of the 2008 NFL season, Benson finally found his home with the Bengals and broke out at the end of that campaign.

In wins over the Redskins, Cleveland Browns, and Kansas City Chiefs, Benson racked up around 500 total yards from scrimmage. That powered the Bengals to three of their only four wins on the season.
