Texas Football: Ranking 8 most hated Longhorns rivals
8. Kansas Jayhawks
All-Time Record: 15-3-0, Texas
Partly due to the rivalry on the hardwood and partly just because Texas football had trouble getting past them on the gridiron lately, the Kansas Jayhawks are a real thorn in the Longhorns side. Kansas is of course known as a predominant basketball school. Beating the Jayhawks in basketball is always fun for the Longhorns and their faithful.
But when former Texas head coach Charlie Strong fell short against the Jayhawks to cap the 2016 regular season and miss bowl eligibility, both his fate with the program was sealed as was the loss permanently in the minds of the fans. It is unforgivable to loss to Kansas in football with the current state of that team.
The last time that the Longhorns lost to Kansas in football previous to 2016 was in 1938. Kansas actually won the first two games in this series, in 1901 and 1938. But it lost every other meeting, outside of 2016, in 16 tries since then.
Kansas can be an entitled fan base thanks to their tradition in basketball. While the Longhorns can appreciate a strong storied tradition in a profit college sport, getting along with the Jayhawks is tough. This rising Big 12 foe also added a weird intrigue to it this offseason by bringing on former LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles to lead the way in the post-David Beaty era.
