8. Oklahoma State Cowboys (Tie)

All-Time Record: 24-9-0, Texas

For the most part, the Texas football program dominated the history of the conference meetings with the Oklahoma State Cowboys. But that narrative shifted of late in the latter days under Mack Brown, and under Charlie Strong and current head Texas football coach Tom Herman.

The other Oklahoma school that found success on the gridiron of late shares a common factor with the Longhorns. That factor in common between Texas and Oklahoma State is the hate of the rival Sooners. But Texas has no love for Oklahoma State when they are battling on the gridiron in Big 12 play now.

Oklahoma State won four straight against Texas and seven of the last nine. Head coach Mike Gundy and the Pokes also won the last five meetings between these two teams in Austin. This included the heated exchange between Gundy and Herman at the end of last year’s meeting at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, OK.

To Texas, Oklahoma State is a lot like a certain tech school in this state. The Pokes can be a thorn in the side of the Longhorns at times. But it shouldn’t be long before Herman rights the ship against Gundy and these stingy Pokes. Nonetheless, Texas and Oklahoma State usually makes for entertaining games in football, baseball, and basketball.
