Texas Football: Ranking 8 most hated Longhorns rivals
2. Oklahoma Sooners
All-Time Record: 62-47-5, Texas
The biggest rivalry for the Texas football program that isn’t dormant at the moment is the Red River Showdown against the Oklahoma Sooners. The one game that Longhorns fans mark on the calendar year in and year out right away comes at the original Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas.
Last year, the most memorable victory (maybe outside of the Sugar Bowl against the Georgia Bulldogs) came against Oklahoma in the regular season Red River Showdown. Although Texas still owns the Golden Hat from its regular season Red River win, Oklahoma had the last laugh last year by winning the rematch in the Big 12 Championship Game.
Could we see another year where Texas and Oklahoma meet twice in one season?
At the moment, these two teams have to be the two favorites to meet again in the Big 12 Championship Game in 2019.
There are plenty of memorable meetings between the Longhorns and Sooners in the full history of these two programs. The 45-12 thrashing of Oklahoma in 2005 and the 45-35 key win in 2008 were great ones to keep in mind for the Longhorns.
How will the chips fall between Texas and Oklahoma in 2019? It will be a different quarterback matching, but the same coaching matchup between Lincoln Riley and Tom Herman.
