The projected junior starting tight end for Texas football this fall, Cade Brewer, is reportedly going through concussion protocol ahead of the 2019 season kick-off against Louisiana Tech. If the Longhorns do have Brewer back by game one, then he could be staring a breakthrough junior campaign from the get go.

However, having the injury bug already biting Brewer ahead of the start of the 2019 regular season is not a great sign by any means. Brewer had injury issues before during his three year career on the Forty Acres.

If healthy, Brewer will be a key contributor to the Longhorns efforts this fall. An unheatlhy Brewer for the Longhorns means that either true freshman Brayden Liebrock or second-year tight end Reese Leitao could be the solution Herman has to go with. Liebrock could be the starter soon, but he might not be ready yet.

In just nine career games played, Brewer racked up 99 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Most of that very limited body of work for Brewer came during his freshman campaign. Brewer needs a full healthy season to have that breakthrough that most Longhorns fans know he has in him.
