Week 10

Opponent: Iowa State Cyclones

Date: Nov. 16

Location: Jack Trice Stadium (Ames, IA)

A truly difficult battle awaits Texas football in mid-November with the Iowa State Cyclones trying to hold onto a top 25 ranking under head coach Matt Campbell for the third straight season. At this point of the regular season, wins for the Longhorns over TCU and Kansas State allowed them to climb back up to a No. 6 ranking in the CFB Playoff poll.

Iowa State is still present in the AP Poll, at No. 22. Just two losses for the Cyclones puts Campbell’s team in position to have a huge game against the Longhorns. But Texas continues to rise to the occasion when it matters most against a top 25 team under Herman. Texas faced three top 25 teams to this point, and won two of them.

For the past two seasons, Texas played very well against Iowa State. Herman has not yet lost to the Cyclones as head coach of the Longhorns. That trend keeps and Ehlinger keeps his Heisman bid alive with a second-straight week of four total touchdowns. This awesome outing for Ehlinger comes with zero interceptions too.

Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy gets hampered by an upstart Texas pass rush spearheaded by junior Ta’Quon Graham and sophomore Joe Ossai. Texas sacks Purdy four times on the day, and Sterns racks up two picks. Sterns is now up to five interceptions on the season and is starting at All-American honors if he finishes out his sophomore campaign on the right note.

Final Score: Texas 35, Iowa State 21

Record: 9-1 (6-1 Big 12)
