Week 11

Opponent: Baylor Bears

Date: Nov. 23

Location: McLane Stadium (Waco, TX)

Just one game remains before the Texas football program can officially claim stake to a Thanksgiving showdown that would decide their Big 12 Championship Game and College Football Playoff fate. The Baylor Bears and Texas Tech Red Raiders are the lone teams that stand in the way of the Longhorns and true national prominence in Herman’s third year at the helm.

However, Baylor presents a very interesting challenge with seven wins heading into Week 11. Baylor is actually ranked just outside the top 25. This team is one win away from making its way into premier bowl conversation and a dark horse bid to the Big 12 Championship Game if Texas, Oklahoma, and/or Iowa State starts to slide in the waning weeks of the regular season.

Junior Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer is putting on a show this season and looking like a dark horse Heisman contender for 2020. He has over 3,000 passing yards and 25 total touchdowns already. He and experienced running back JaMycal Hasty torch the Texas defense in the first half. Senior wideout Denzel Mims has his way with the secondary.

Ehlinger gets off to a slow start and gets a stinger from Baylor defensive tackle James Lynch. That slows the Texas offense down enough to put them behind by two scores heading into the second half. Ingram and Whittington are also limited with Ehlinger’s passing ability hurt. It is just too much for the Longhorns to catch up and Baylor catches them looking too far ahead in Waco in Week 11.

Final Score: Baylor 40, Texas 31

Record: 9-2 (6-2 Big 12)
