Big 12 Championship Game

Opponent: Oklahoma Sooners

Date: Dec. 7

Location: AT&T Stadium (Arlington, TX)

For the second straight season, Texas football and Oklahoma meet for a rematch of the Red River Showdown in the Big 12 Championship Game at the home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, TX. AT&T Stadium is set to be the site of three big-time games during the 2019 campaign up to this point, on Dec. 7. The Big 12 Championship Game follows up on the Oregon Ducks downing the Auburn Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies getting upset by the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Yet, Texas is hoping for a role reversal this time around since Oklahoma knocked them off in the Big 12 Championship Game in 2018. Texas didn’t get the best of the Sooners during the regular season, though, like they did last year. Now, Texas wants to play the role of spoiler with Oklahoma entering with one-loss and College Football Playoff hopes in tact.

Hurts comes out fast, but that doesn’t matter as Ehlinger stays with him every step of the way. Ehlinger has a similar outing to what he did against Oklahoma in 2018. He finishes with four passing touchdowns and two rushing against an inept Oklahoma defense that can’t find its way under Riley and Grinch.

Johnson hauls in another two touchdown catches, and Ingram and Whittington combine for two receiving touchdowns themselves. In terms of yardage, junior tight end Cade Brewer has a breakthrough with 95 receiving yards on 10 catches. It is the efforts of Sterns, Jones, and Graham that helps the Texas defense hold the explosive Oklahoma offense in check just enough to win.

Final Score: Texas 44, Oklahoma 36

Record: 11-2 (8-2 Big 12)
