Texas Football: 5 players whose stock is soaring ahead of 2019 season
Who can Texas football fans rely on to become recognizable quality starters early on in the 2019 regular season, starting this Saturday?
The Texas football program is lined with young talent on both sides of the ball. But a lot of that talent has yet to be developed. The depth chart Texas released this week for the season opener against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs featured a lot more firstborn and second year players than usual for Texas.
There are two separate categories to hit on ahead of the kick-off for the 2019 Texas regular season. Breakout stars could line both sides of the ball among the more experienced starters that are finally getting their shot as primary playmakers. And younger first-time starters are looking to take this opportunity their given and fully run with it.
If Texas gets a quick jump on Louisiana Tech this weekend, then head coach Tom Herman could give early playing time to a host of first and second year players for valuable exposure in game action. That could lead to even more young talent that shows out and could make an impact early on for Texas. With the injuries, and one suspension, piling up ahead of the regular season opener this team could definitely use a host of breakthroughs.
All the talent that Herman signed from the past two recruiting cycles could really start to come to fruition this fall. While the 2020 season should be where Herman really starts to see the fruits of his labor from the recruiting trail since he signed a top three ranked class in 2018 and 2019, young depth is usually necessary for national prominence.
Here’s a look at the five players for the Texas Longhorns football program whose stock is rising quickly ahead of the start of the 2019 regular season this coming weekend.
