Major Applewhite (Analyst), Alabama Crimson Tide

After departing with the Houston Cougars football program for another former Big 12 coach (Dana Holgorsen), Major Applewhite joined the Alabama Crimson Tide coaching staff as an analyst. He’ll now be developed under the legendary Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban.

In the regular season opener, Alabama faced underrated head coach David Cutcliffe and the Duke Blue Devils. A slow start for the Crimson Tide wouldn’t keep them from achieving a big win in the end by more than 30 points.

Sterlin Gilbert (HC), McNeese State (FCS)

A former Texas football offensive coordinator that most fans on the Forty Acres wouldn’t mind forgetting about was an assistant under Charlie Strong. Sterlin Gilbert is now the head coach for FCS McNeese State. In Week 1, McNeese State took on Southern and raked in a 34-28 victory.

Next week, Gilbert will now get to travel back into Big 12 country with McNeese State to take on head coach Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
