3. That ‘Gameday’ feeling

For the first time since 2009, Texas football will be hosting the heralded show College Gameday on campus. The return of the set of College Gameday to the Forty Acres signals the return of this program to the national spotlight. Rarely were the Longhorns in this good of a position to enter the Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff conversation just in Week 2 in the past decade.

What made it really difficult for Texas to stay in the Playoff conversation for the past two seasons was the fact that Herman lost the opener to the Maryland Terrapins both years. It’s hard to keep up a positive national reputation after losing to a lowly team like Maryland two years in a row.

However, Texas has a better winning percentage when College Gameday is present than LSU does. The chips are stacking up in the Longhorns favor in multiple ways, but none that are very decisive in terms of underdog records for Herman and win percentage with College Gameday on campus.

Nonetheless, the electric atmosphere that will be on the Forty Acres this weekend will be unforgettable no matter what happens on the field. Granted, winning this game brings the Big 12 a ton of respect and slots Texas possibly in the discussion to garner a top 5 ranking in the AP Poll.
