What could the Texas football program have done better in Week 2 to reign triumphant over the LSU Tigers instead of falling short in the end?

It was a hard night for fans of the Texas football program to swallow, but their No. 9 ranked team fell short against a strong opponent at home in Week 2. The No. 6 ranked LSU Tigers came onto the Forty Acres with ESPN’s College Gameday set present on campus for what turned out to be an absolutely electric atmosphere. It turned out that electric atmosphere in Austin didn’t push Texas to get the win over an SEC West blue blood.

After months of anticipation, the Texas Longhorns finally faced the LSU Tigers in Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The Longhorns were a touchdown underdog, but many expected Texas to pull of an upset and prove the doubters wrong and show that they were indeed “back.”

Unfortunately, they fell short, with the game ending in 45-38 loss, dealing the Longhorns their first loss of the season as well as their first home loss. There are many points of this game to dissect, but these four stand out as the most prominent.

Here’s a look into the definitive four takeaways from the heartbreaking last-minute loss for the Texas Longhorns football team to the No. 6 ranked LSU Tigers on Sep. 7 at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
