Texas Football: Position-by-position report card from non-conference play
Special teams
The longest field goal in the career of Texas football sophomore kicker Cameron Dicker came in the win over Rice. He was one of the best players for the Longhorns in that win as he was 6-for-6 on extra-point attempts and 2-for-2 on his two field goal tries. One of those field goal tries was good for a career-long 57 yards.
On the season, Dicker is now a perfect 17-for-17 on his extra-point attempts and a solid 4-for-5 on his field goal tries. He should be the leading scorer by season’s end for the Longhorns if he keeps staying at this level of consistency that he started with.
Sophomore punter Ryan Bujcevski wasn’t counted on a whole lot in the first three weeks of the regular season, outside of the first half against LSU. But he was pretty solid when called upon. He averaged more than 44 yards per punt in the past two weeks and 43.5 yards per punt on the season altogether.
The players on the kick and punt return teams didn’t do anything flashy in the first three weeks but didn’t make many mistakes on either. Barring a touchdown or two from the special teams return units, this side of the ball did about as much as they could to hold up their end of the bargain.
