9. Kansas Jayhawks

Texas football still has that blip on the radar that is the loss to the Kansas Jayhawks from the 2016 season under former head coach Charlie Strong. That was the end to Strong’s tenure on the Forty Acres and it was the worst way to end it out. But the Longhorns at least haven’t lost to the Jayhawks since that point.

The 2018 matchup against the Jayhawks spelled doom for most of the game. An injured then sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger was having shoulder problems as he continued to try to get back on track. It was a cold day in Lawrence, KS, that benefit the defense of the Jayhawks more than anything.

This fall, Kansas is led by former LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles and had quite the bounce back game in Week 3. Close games against the FCS Indiana State Sycamores and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers led to plenty of doubt before facing the Boston College Eagles in Week 3.

But Kansas proved in beating Boston College by the final score of 48-24 in a Friday night showdown last week that they can be dangerous. Nonetheless, the Longhorns should take care of business no problem since Kansas has to travel to the Forty Acres to face them this fall.
