Texas Football: Ranking difficulty of every Big 12 game in 2019
2. Iowa State Cyclones
Before I got too far and say that the Iowa State Cyclones are going to be the third best team in the Big 12 behind Texas football and Oklahoma, I have to preface how important it is that the Longhorns travel to Ames. This is a complete and total trap for any team like Texas that is in a good position to contend for the conference championship.
Iowa State was the ultimate wipeout for West Virginia on their potential quest to the Big 12 Championship Game last season. Texas is looking to not become that win for head coach Matt Campbell and Iowa State this fall.
The good news for the Longhorns is how well Herman fared against Iowa State thus far. He has two wins in two tries over Iowa State. He never wavered against a very good Iowa State team when they were the hottest last November. He’ll be looking to do more of the same this time around.
No matter what happens before Texas and Iowa State meet this year, Jack Trice Stadium is going to be rocking when Ehlinger and his squad arrive in Ames. The Longhorns have to always be ready for the test that is traveling to Iowa State and whatever weather and atmosphere lies ahead at Jack Trice.
