Pick Analysis. Scouting Report. Junior. Charlie Brewer. 4. player. 860. Quarterback

Statistically, junior Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer isn’t where he needs to be to truly contend for the Heisman Trophy. But the storyline of the undefeated Baylor team that is a real dark horse for a spot in the College Football Playoff and a Big 12 Title is there for Brewer to make a Heisman push.

Of the deepest sleepers you could find to make a late push for Heisman contention, Brewer would have to be considered with that group. There’s enough remaining on the schedule for him to technically get the necessary national recognition to challenge for these honors.

At the moment, Brewer has around 2,400 total yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns compared to just three interceptions. He’s one of the most efficient quarterbacks, given what he has around him, in the Big 12 this season. That deserves a good amount of respect. He’ll also have big games down the stretch at home against Oklahoma and Texas.

The way Brewer is effectively managing games and making huge plays when it matters most could be the way that he rides into Heisman contention this year. Having a huge stretch run this season along with nabbing Baylor a Big 12 Championship and a spot in the Playoff is about the only realistic path for Brewer to the Heisman ceremony.
