4. USC Trojans

Bowl game: Alamo Bowl

There’s two really interesting opponents that the Texas football program could nab if they somehow get slotted into the Alamo Bowl. For the Longhorns to land in the Alamo Bowl in the first place, absolute chaos would have to ensure around the Big 12 this weekend. Texas would also need to wallop the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

A rematch between the Longhorns and the USC Trojans would actually be really interesting, since it would be the third straight season that such matchup would occur. Texas faced USC in each of the last two seasons. These two teams split those games so a neutral site affair could finally settle the score.

The last time that Texas and USC met at a neutral site was obviously the instant classic Rose Bowl win for Vince Young and the Longhorns back in 2006. Texas beat USC last season at DKR and the Trojans beat the Longhorns at The Coliseum back in 2017.

Instead of facing either Sam Darnold or J.T. Daniels, Ehlinger would get a crack at another talented and young USC quarterback in freshman Kedon Slovis. With the down play from Ehlinger of late, facing Slovis could give him the motivation he needs to get back on track.

USC comes into Week 14 with a record of 8-4, including three straight wins. The most impressive win of the season so far for head coach Clay Helton and the Trojans came over the Playoff contender Utah Utes.
