2. Oregon Ducks

Bowl game: Alamo Bowl

If not for a massive road upset loss at the hands of head coach Herm Edwards and the pesky Arizona State Sun Devils on Nov. 23, the Oregon Ducks would still be sitting on the cusp of College Football Playoff contention. Instead, the Ducks couldn’t hold off the Sun Devils and wound up getting their second loss of the regular season.

All that Oregon can hope for at this point is they get the best of Utah in the PAC-12 Championship Game and wind up in the Rose Bowl. But if Oregon loses to Utah in the PAC-12 Championship Game, then they will likely land in the Alamo Bowl.

An appearance in the Alamo Bowl could pit Oregon against Iowa State or Oklahoma State in the highest likelihood. But Texas isn’t eliminated from landing in the Alamo Bowl yet. Facing a team like Oregon that has a true top quarterback talent in Justin Herbert would be fun to see what type of momentum is taken into the offseason.

At least getting in front of a team with as much talent as Oregon could give the Longhorns a lot of confidence heading into the offseason and a shot for Herman to rectify his program.

The raw speed that would be present on the field between the Longhorns and Ducks would be awesome to watch. Texas could both get a shot at knocking off a team with just two or three losses and that was a Playoff contender not too long ago.
