Texas Football: Updated redshirt chart post-2019 regular season
By Shane Black
Isaiah Hookfin: Isaiah Hookfin, the 21st ranked tackle in the class of 2019, did not see the field this season which is commonplace for offensive linemen.
Most linemen need a year or two to bulk up to compete at the collegiate level. He has a high ceiling and should look to the 2021 season for a possible starting position as Denzel Okafor, Derek Kerstetter, and likely Sam Cosmi will all be gone.
Tyler Johnson: Johnson was the eighth ranked offensive tackle and ninth ranked prospect in the state of Texas in the last recruiting cycle. Like Hookfin, Johnson needed a year to bulk up, and the Horns really did not need him this season. He was the backup left tackle in 2019 and should be ready to take over whenever Sam Cosmi bolts to the NFL.
Peter Mpagi: The three-star defensive end out of Richmond, Texas did not see the field this year, though there has been some buzz about what Peter Mpagi can provide with his 6-foot-5 frame. Though the starting end positions seem to be locked down for 2020, Mpagi will definitely see some time on the field.
Myron Warren: Another defensive end, Myron Warren, a four-star product out of Louisiana, did not see the field in a pretty loaded defensive line room. He will be competing with Mpagi as well as Jacoby Jones and T’Vondre Sweat for backup snaps behind Marquez Bimage and Ta’Quon Graham.
