4. Texas A&M’s NCAA Tournament chances are really starting to slip

This loss to the Texas basketball program moved the Aggies record to a dismal 3-5 on the season so far. They have now lost four games in a row. And two of those losses were pretty bad, coming at the hands of Harvard and Fairfield. Possibly their best loss of the last four games was this 10-point defeat at the hands of the Longhorns.

However, Buzz needs to get his young team together quickly before a deep SEC slate arrives at the end of this month. Texas A&M has stiff competition in the SEC this season that comes in both divisions. From the Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, and Kentucky Wildcats at the top, all the way down to a solid middle-tier of teams, the SEC going to be a gauntlet in hoops this season.

Even the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Arkansas Razorbacks are going to be tough outs this year. But Texas A&M proved against this solid Smart Longhorns defense that they need to figure a lot of things out. Texas held all but one of the Aggies starters to below nine points on the day and forced 21 turnovers.

Before the Aggies know it, they could be facing an uphill battle in terms of even making a solid postseason tournament. Recovering from five, some of them rather awful, early regular season losses is never easy. And the Longhorns made this problem for the Aggies much worse with the exposure of Texas A&M’s struggling starting five.
