2. Jase Febres and Josh Nebo make for an awesome scoring battle

Two forwards did most of the scoring for Texas A&M and this Texas basketball team in yesterday’s showdown in Fort Worth. On the Texas A&M side, the 6-foot-9 senior and former transfer power forward Josh Nebo put on a show with a team-high 16 points.

Nebo is scoring quite efficiently for Texas A&M this season, with a field goal percentage sitting at 64.3. And he’s averaging more than five rebounds per game and around 2.5 blocks to add to his impressive stat line.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns got a game-high 17 points out of junior small forward Jase Febres. The combination of the scoring of Jones and Febres put Texas well over the top on offense in this win over the Aggies.

Febres got his 17 points mostly from beyond the arc in this game, and he had a well-rounded two-way effort. He was 6-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. He also added three rebounds, two assists, and one steal, on a turnover-free day for Febres. That type of efficiency would be very welcome from Febres moving forward.

On a day where the Longhorns dynamic guard duo of Coleman and Ramey was down on the offensive end, other support players like Febres and Jones need to step up for this team to stay on the right side of the win column. And that’s exactly what Texas got, with just shy of 30 points between those two scorers.
