Where should the Texas football program look next to find their next offensive coordinator hire with some key names taken off the market?
The Texas football program looks to have officially lost out on the race to either haul LSU Tigers passing game coordinator Joe Brady or USC Trojans offensive coordinator Graham Harrell away to be their next play caller in the post-Tim Beck era. But there was going to be a new crop of offensive coordinator targets that emerged quickly for head coach Tom Herman and this Texas staff.
There’s just too much on the line for Texas in the postseason for Herman to let too many good offensive coordinator candidates escape his clutches. Losing out on the sweepstakes to get Brady or Harrell does hurt.
According to a 247Sports report (and Stadium’s Brett McMurphy on Twitter), two new emerging candidates for the offensive coordinator job opening are the Ohio State Buckeyes passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich and Minnesota Golden Gophers offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca.
Yurcich and Ciarrocca are relatively progressing coordinators in the college football coaching ranks. Neither is in more than their third year with their respective programs. And neither was at more than two Power Five coordinator jobs in total. But both could be intriguing candidates for Texas given the right circumstances.
Ohio State passing game coordinator Mike Yurcich is leading candidate to become new OC at Texas, sources told @Stadium. If Yurcich is hired at Texas, he would remain with Buckeyes thru @CFBPlayoff. Minnesota OC Kirk Ciarrocca also possibility for UT OC job, source said

Texas needs to turn it around on offense next season. All this coaching turnover under Herman needs to pay off in the near future. But Herman did already fill his defensive coordinator opening, replacing the departed Todd Orlando with former Rutgers head coach Chris Ash.
Here’s a look into the five best updated offensive coordinator hires that the Texas Longhorns football program could make given all the dominoes that fell on the coaching carousel of late.
