Quarterbacks

Hudson Card (Lake Travis), 4-Star Dual-Threat

The second highest rated signee thus far for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class came from four-star Lake Travis dual-threat quarterback Hudson Card. The second best dual-threat quarterback in the nation, and a top 65 high school prospect overall, was largely forgotten down the stretch thanks to a season-ending knee injury earlier in the year.

If Card is able to work his way back from this knee injury quickly, he could still be due for some early playing time come next season. But he’ll have stiff competition coming his way too. Texas is pretty much set at quarterback for the foreseeable future.

This 6-foot-3 and 180 pound quarterback has a strong arm and good vision to use his legs as a weapon. He should have a higher ceiling behind center than even the Longhorns current junior starting quarterback, Sam Ehlinger.

Ja’Quinden Jackson (Duncanville), 4-Star Dual-Threat/Athlete

I’m going to count the four-star Duncanville athlete, and fellow dual-threat quarterback, Ja’Quinden Jackson in two parts of this list. Jackson played at quarterback for Duncanville High School, and caught fire down the stretch before he tore his ACL.

It’s unfortunate that both senior seasons ended the way they did for Card and Jackson. The nation’s No. 75 2020 high school prospect finished up his senior campaign with more than 2,700 total yards from scrimmage and 36 total touchdowns.

But there might be a position switch in the near future for Jackson if he doesn’t make a positive impact in the quarterback room right away.
