Conclusion and where to go from here

Since yet another Texas football recruiting class ranked among the top 10 in the nation, Herman has to consider this cycle a success through the conclusion of the Early Signing Period. But there’s still a lot of work left to do since he has to replace at least half of his coaching staff and fill positional needs before National Signing Day.

Texas has 17 signees, and has room for a couple more commits in the next two months. National Signing Day doesn’t bring as much action as it used to before the installation of the Early Signing Period. But Texas could still land another handful of signees before that time arrives.

The bulk of the highly touted signees in this class either came on the offensive side of the ball or on the defensive line. The biggest positional needs left in this recruiting class include a second running back, at least one more wide receiver, linebacker, and maybe even a cornerback. Texas at least has talent loaded up at the top in the running back room and the defensive backfield.

Texas is still sending offers out to commitments of other notable Power Five programs of late, including the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets four-star running back commit Jahmyr Gibbs.

A solid, but not great, 2020 recruiting class for the Longhorns needs some more additions before National Signing Day. This group receives a solid grade through the end of the three days of the Early Signing Period, but it is still incomplete.
