The Alamo Bowl is about two days away for the Texas football program against the No. 11 Utah Utes. It’s time for outlandish predictions for that matchup.

Christmas Day 2019 came and went and the Texas football program is just five days away from kicking off the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 31 against the No. 11 ranked Utah Utes. Texas somehow limped into the Alamo Bowl this year with a subpar record of 7-5 (5-4 Big 12). Meanwhile, Utah was possibly one off game away from notching a berth in the College Football Playoff field.

Utah finished off their regular season slate with a record of 11-2 (8-2 PAC-12), after a loss to the Oregon Ducks 37-15 in the PAC-12 Championship Game. Their other loss from the regular season came at the hands of head coach Clay Helton and the USC Trojans. There isn’t a win that the Utes can really hang their hat on that truly proved they should be a national title contender.

Similar to Utah, Texas didn’t notch a win this season that came over a bona fide top 20 team. Wins in Big 12 play over the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Kansas State Wildcats were about the best Texas came up with this far. But that could all change in the Alamo Bowl. Beating Utah could keep head coach Tom Herman undefeated in the postseason during his three years with this program.

Last year, Texas knocked off the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. The year before, they toppled the Mizzou Tigers in the Texas Bowl. Herman now gets his crack at the second best team out of the PAC-12.

Here’s a look into the five bold predictions we have for the Texas Longhorns football program in the Alamo Bowl against Utah.
