5. Tyler Huntley is held to one total touchdown

The Alamo Bowl is going to be decided by the decision making and overall production/efficiency of the two quarterbacks involved. Utah surely brings a stout and efficient decision maker under center with star senior signal caller Tyler Huntley.

Huntley led the PAC-12 in yards per play this season (8.8) and completion percentage (73.7). But he almost ranked outside the top 10 in touchdowns responsible for (23) and passing touchdowns individually (18). Huntley racked up 2,966 passing yards and just four interceptions to go along with his 23 total touchdowns and 73.7 percent completion rate.

He will surely be a formidable test for a Texas football defense that struggled to contain dual-threat quarterbacks throughout most of the regular season. The only times where the Longhorns defense really excelled against dual-threat quarterbacks was when they were young and prone to making mistakes under pressure. Oklahoma State’s redshirt freshman starter Spencer Sanders (two picks against Texas) is a good example of that trend.

What is also working in the Longhorns favor in terms of defending Huntley and this well-rounded Utah offense is their lack of explosive plays beyond their quarterback and running back. There was only one Utes receiver during the regular season that averaged more than 15 yards per catch (Brant Kuithe averaged 19.4). And no Utah receivers averaged more than 14.4 yards per catch that had more than 25 receptions.
