Why should one of the top remaining uncommitted high school prospects for this cycle commit to the 2020 Texas football recruiting class soon?

There’s two major targets left ahead of National Signing Day for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class. Since the Early Signing Period came and went last week, head Texas football coach Tom Herman can now focus on locking in an even better 2020 signing class come February.

Unless there’s a big change in the prospects that Herman targets between now and National Signing Day, those two that should be prioritized would be huge additions to the defense. The first is five-star Saguaro cornerback Kelee Ringo, who looks to be largely narrowing his decision down to Texas and the Georgia Bulldogs.

The other big time defensive recruiting target for Texas ahead of National Signing Day is four-star Cedar Creek strong-side defensive end Alfred Collins. This 6-foot-5 and 275 pound defensive lineman ranks as the nation’s No. 71 2020 high school prospect and No. 3 at his position. The 247Sports recruiting rankings alone have him as a top 40 high school prospect in the nation.

Moreover, all of the nine experts picking for the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Collins committing to Texas. Even the Rivals FutureCast has a clean split between Texas and the rival Oklahoma Sooners to land the commitment of Collins.

Texas should be making Collins a high priority at the moment since he took a number of other visits since his last to the Forty Acres. He even had three visits (two unofficial and one official) with head coach Matt Rhule and the Baylor Bears in the last month-and-a-half. His last official visit with Texas came back on Oct. 18.

Here’s a look into the three reasons why the four-star Cedar Creek strong-side defensive end Alfred Collins should commit to the Texas Longhorns football program when it’s all said and done.
