Which five players in the Alamo Bowl, from Texas football and Utah, are the most important prospects to watch for the 2020 NFL Draft?

There might be more 2020 NFL Draft prospects playing for the No. 11 ranked Utah Utes in the Alamo Bowl than for the Texas football program. Texas is a younger team this season than they were last, and they have talent ready to go into the NFL Draft. And Texas will be able to put that talent on display in their bowl game against a top 15 opponent yet again.

The difference between this year and last for Texas is the situation in which they find themselves heading into the postseason. Last season, Texas was looking for their 10th win of the season heading into the Sugar Bowl against the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. They were coming off a close loss in the Big 12 Championship Game against the rival Oklahoma Sooners.

There was a point at which Texas was a bona fide College Football Playoff contender last season more than five weeks in. A road loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys derailed those hopes, though.

Now, Texas just wants to salvage what’s left of a mostly disappointing 2019 regular season. The Alamo Bowl will see 7-5 (5-4 Big 12) Texas square off against the PAC-12 runner-up and the 11-2 (8-2 PAC) Utes. Utah is favored by slightly more than a touchdown before kickoff. Texas was an underdog last season heading into the Sugar Bowl against Georgia.

One of the more exciting factors to bowl season is seeing how the play of the biggest draft-eligible stars across the country impacts their stock heading into the New Year. With Texas having a number of players that could be early-to-middle round picks in the 2020 draft, along with Utah, the Alamo Bowl could be an intriguing watch in that regard.

Here’s a look into the five biggest 2020 NFL Draft prospects to watch in the Alamo Bowl this year between the Texas Longhorns football program and the Utah Utes.
