Other notable draft eligible prospects

The Texas football program has at least eight or 10 players worth watching in the Alamo Bowl since they are eligible to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. Those Longhorns would at least be likely to receive draft grades placing them no lower than late round picks. Utah has a lot of draft-worthy players more so on the defensive side of the ball than on offense.

Zach Shackelford, Texas Center

As far as the offensive line goes, the Longhorns weren’t very good for most of the 2019 season. Texas saw major improvements in the trenches throughout the 2018 campaign, but took a big step back this fall. There’s a big test ahead to see how the injury prone senior center Zach Shackelford handles an experienced and skilled Utah front seven.

Devin Duvernay, Texas Wide Receiver

Utah is going to have their hands full trying to contain senior star Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay coming out of the slot. There’s not as much speed in this Utah defense compared to a lot of the teams the Longhorns played against this year (I.e. LSU and Oklahoma). Duvernay was the regular season FBS leader in catches and ranked in the top five in receiving yards.

Leki Fotu, Utah Defensive Tackle

This senior laden Utah defensive line will be a load for the Longhorns to contain. Senior defensive tackle Leki Fotu carries a sizable 6-foot-5 and 335 pound frame that could bully this Texas offensive line. Fotu is the anchor the holds together this three-man Utah front. He’s one of the team leaders with six tackles for loss on the season.
