3. Perfect storm for the Texas receiving corps

More than one month of preparation combined with a plethora of injuries to the Utah secondary puts this Texas football receiving corps in a very advantageous position entering the Alamo Bowl. Texas gets the towering 6-foot-6 and 220 pound wide receiver Collin Johnson back for the Alamo Bowl after he played in just six games during the regular season.

Utah will also have to deal with senior star Longhorns wide receiver Devin Duvernay tonight. Duvernay was one of the nation’s most productive wide receivers this season, as he has more than 100 receptions and more than 1,200 receiving yards. For most of the regular season, Duverany led the FBS in receptions.

Moreover, Duvernay might be the best wide receiver that the Utes have faced all season. The PAC-12 isn’t the strongest at wide receiver. Texas getting Johnson back in the mix is just going to add more fuel to the flame against this depleted Utah secondary. Watch out for Herman to also utilize the size matchups he’ll have between Malcolm Epps and Brennan Eagles.

Utah will be missing the likes of senior standout defensive backs Jaylon Johnson and Julian Blackmon. Sophomore R.J. Hubert will also be out with a leg injury in the Alamo Bowl. Blackmon is out with an injury, and Jaylon is sitting out to prepare for the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft. He was the only Utah defensive back to miss the game to prepare for the draft.
