The punt return game was pretty solid as always for Texas football. Sophomore returner/cornerback D’shawn Jamison got over the 100-yard mark in punt return yards on the game. He had a long return of 71 yards, that got the Longhorns offense setup inside the 10-yard line on one drive in the first half.

Jones is the usual punt returner for the Longhorns, but Jamison did well in relief in this game. A lot of the punt return duties were split between Jones and Jamison throughout the season.

And Jamison did pretty well in the kick return game, averaging around 22 yards per return. There was nothing overwhelmingly explosive from Jamison in the kick return game, though.

The kicking and punting games were also solid for the Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl. Sophomore kicker Cameron Dicker knocked through his only field goal attempt of the game, which came from 29 yards. Dicker was excellent throughout his sophomore campaign, nailing more than 77 percent of his field goal attempts, and going better than 98 percent in extra-point attempts for the second straight year.

Sophomore punter Ryan Bujcevski was only called upon twice for his services yesterday. But that is always a good thing, unless his lack of work comes from a lot of turnovers.

Nonetheless, Bujcevski was good when called upon against Utah. He averaged 47.0 yards per punt on his two attempts, and had a long of 49 yards. Neither of his two punts were pinned inside the 20, so Herman wasn’t left playing the field position battle all that much.
