A recent Oklahoma Sooners commit, 3-Star QB Chandler Morris, flashed the Horns down sign in reference to Texas football when he made his decision this week.

Once the Arkansas Razorbacks had former head coach Chad Morris ousted, there were a number of key recruits that decommitted from their 2020 class. One of those is a key target now of head coach Tom Herman and the 2020 Texas football recruiting, three-star Carthage athlete Kelvontay Dixon. And another one that made headlines in relation to the Texas football program is the three-star Highland Park and Dallas, TX, dual-threat quarterback Chandler Morris.

The Texas Longhorns football program didn’t really have the need or the want to add Morris to their 2020 recruiting class. But that didn’t stop from Morris from keeping a chip on his shoulder and doing the usual “Horns down” hand gesture in a commitment photo during the festivities at the Under-Armour All-American Game this week.

When Morris announced his commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners 2020 recruiting class, he immediately flashed the Horns down hand gesture. It didn’t take long for that usual hatred of the Longhorns to be put on full display for Morris.

Redshirt freshman Texas defensive tackle, and former four-star recruit, Keondre Coburn responded pretty quickly to this Horns down gesture by Morris. But it might be a long time before Morris even plays for head coach Lincoln Riley and the Sooners, who are loaded at quarterback for the long haul.

Morris is a 5-foot-11 and 178 pound signal caller coming out of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex that ranks as the nation’s No. 353 2020 high school prospect and No. 14 at his position. He also had scholarship offers that came from the Virginia Tech Hokies, Auburn Tigers, USC Trojans, Clemson Tigers, Kansas State Wildcats and TCU Horned Frogs.

Moreover, the recruitment of Morris was about as weird as it gets as it relates to the Red River Rivalry and the SEC. Chandler sees his dad, Chad, ousted in Fayetteville and winds up going from one of the worst Power Five programs in the nation to one of the best.

Chandler never even received an offer from the Longhorns, so maybe the Horns down sign is a shot at that slighting from the Texas coaching staff. But Texas didn’t need another quarterback, and neither did Oklahoma.
