2. Jericho Sims is the leader in offensive rebounds

It wasn’t all that long ago that this Texas basketball team saw junior center Jericho Sims post a season-high 13 boards. That 13-rebound effort came in the disappointing loss that the Longhorns had at the hands of the Providence Friars on the road. It’s a shame that effort on the glass was all for naught for Sims against that stingy Providence team.

In seven of the 12 games Sims played in so far this season, he’s amassed at least four offensive rebounds. He’s a rebounding machine that is registering a career-best offensive rebounding rate of 15.2 percent. This could go well against a Baylor team that is struggling on the boards this season, sitting outside the top 330 teams in the country for defensive rebounding.

Sims is about as good as it gets in the Big 12 in offensive rebounding. His season-high came in the Nov. 12 win over Cal Baptist, when he nabbed seven. He also grabbed six offensive rebounds, his second best tally on the season, in the narrow Nov. 30 win at home over the McNeese State Cowboys.

This might not seem like the most bold prediction for the Longhorns to host the big man that has the game-high in offensive rebounds. Sims has filled that part of the stat sheet multiple times this season. But coming against such a talented and physical Baylor team, Sims leading the game in offensive rebounds would be huge to nab a few extra possessions.
