3. Literally any highly touted commitment for the 2020 recruiting class

The 2020 Texas basketball recruiting class is still without a single commit in it. This is getting hard to believe that Smart could go this long without hauling in any pledges in his 2020 recruiting class. Especially coming off three straight very solid signing classes, the Longhorns should have all sorts of momentum on the recruiting trail for 2020.

However, most of the attention (if not all) on the recruiting trail right now for Texas should be directed at the elite five-star Vandergrift power forward Greg Brown. As a top 10 rated 2020 high school prospect in the nation, Brown has the makings to be the next great big man on the Forty Acres. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor him to land with Texas at the moment.

The Longhorns need to get it together to compete on the recruiting trail soon in the Big 12. Texas is the only Big 12 program without a commitment at this point of the recruiting cycle. Even Oklahoma has one three-star recruit committed in their 2020 recruiting class, and a few interested prospects in line before National Signing Day.

A few other Big 12 programs have elite five-star prospects that are signed already in their 2020 recruiting classes. The Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State each already have at least one five-star prospect committed and/or signed for 2020. Texas needs to keep pace on the recruiting trail so they don’t fall too far behind in the talent and development departments next season.
