There will be a lot of changes facing the coaching staff for the Texas football program heading into the long 2020 offseason.

With the Texas football program coming off an eight win season where they knocked off the No. 11 ranked Utah Utes in impressive fashion in the Alamo Bowl by the final score of 38-10, head coach Tom Herman should have confidence heading into the offseason. Texas had a tumultuous regular season where they rounded out with just seven wins. Winning the Alamo Bowl seemed like a must and gave Texas a record of 8-5 (5-4 Big 12) to officially end the 2019 season.

The long offseason now awaits Texas. At least the season ended on a high note. Beating Utah in the Alamo Bowl is about as good as it could get on the Forty Acres after finishing up the regular season with a measly seven wins.

The coaching staff saw a lot of turnover following the regular season finale win over Texas Tech. And that turnovers looks to continue throughout the offseason. Herman already found replacements for both coordinators, but the position coaches now command the attention. But there’s still a number of openings in this coaching staff that need to be filled.

Texas heads into the 2020 offseason with more than three positional coach openings on this staff that Herman needs to put his focus into filling. There’s still a laundry list of items for him to tackle before the beginning of spring camp in two months.

Here’s a look into three very attainable goals for the Texas Longhorns football and head coach Tom Herman entering the 2020 offseason.
