Texas Football: Ranking Longhorns left in Super Bowl hunt
The only active former Texas football player left in his quest to win a Super Bowl is the 6-foot and 215 pound former first round 2013 NFL Draft pick and safety Kenny Vaccaro. When he first entered the NFL in 2013, Vaccaro was a member of the Saints. He’s now with his second team, and looking for his first Super Bowl ring.
The standout 28-year-old former Longhorns free safety is making waves in this playoff run under head coach Mike Vrabel with the Titans. This Titans team is the Cinderella story of the playoffs thus far. They knocked off the No. 1 seed overall in the NFL in the Divsional Round, the 14-2 Baltimore Ravens.
That 28-12 win over the one-seeded Ravens came in the playoff game following the Titans huge road upset in the Wildcard Round of the reigning Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots. The Titans made it so that possibly the last pass for future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Tom Brady in a Patriots uniform was a pick-six.
Vaccaro himself came up with an interception of the Ravens potential MVP winning quarterback Lamar Jackson in the Titans Divisional Round win. He is now sitting with double-digit combined tackles in two playoff games too.
Since Vaccaro never got a Super Bowl ring during his five years in a Saints uniform, he has to be really hungry to complete this Cinderella story with the Titans by getting one this season.
