An important test looms large for the Texas basketball program as they travel to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Jan. 15.

A road test that can’t be overlooked by the Texas basketball program is looming large on Jan. 15. As this 11-4 (1-2 Big 12) Texas team led by head coach Shaka Smart gets their first chance of the season to get a two-game winning streak going in conference play, confidence should be high on the Forty Acres.

Texas is coming off a big win, their first of the Big 12 slate this year, against the Kansas State Wildcats at home at the Frank Erwin Center on Jan. 11 by the final score of 64-50. Coming into that home meeting with Kansas State last weekend, Texas was 0-2 in Big 12 play. They got off to a rough start in conference play, falling short against the Baylor Bears and rival Oklahoma Sooners to tip things off.

However, Texas has a great chance to right the ship starting with that win over Kansas State. On Jan. 15, Texas will hit the road to take on the struggling Oklahoma State Cowboys at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater. Oklahoma State enters this game with a record of 9-6 (0-3 Big 12). Head coach Mike Boynton and his Pokes have struggled to find traction on the road to a potential NCAA Tournament appearance for about the last month and a half.

The last game for the Pokes saw them post a measly 40 points in a  loss to the TCU Horned Frogs.

Here’s a look into the definitive three reasons why the Texas Longhorns basketball program will stretch their win streak in Big 12 play to two games against the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road on Jan. 15.
