3. Matt Coleman has a juicy guard matchup

Oklahoma State does have a talented backcourt, but they aren’t producing at the highest level of late. Sophomore guard Isaac Likekele is going through a bit of a scoring slump since returning from an off-the-court ailment he was dealing with earlier this season. Prior to putting up 12 points in the loss to TCU, Likekele was riding a four-game streak where he scored in the single-digits.

Senior shooting guard/small forward Lindy Waters III was completely shut out against TCU on eight tries from the field. If Waters and Likekele are having this much difficulty scoring against this Texas basketball backcourt, then sophomore Courtney Ramey and junior Matt Coleman could feast.

If Waters and Likekele aren’t scoring for the Pokes, then they have a near impossible task to try and find other sources of scoring. Senior forward Cam McGriff did get in double-digits scoring in each of the last two games. But McGriff is by no means a primary source of volume scoring that Boynton and the Pokes can consistently rely on.

With the rough patch the Oklahoma State backcourt is going through on the offensive end of the floor, their defense can slip up some too. The Texas Tech Red Raiders had a whopping three guards get in double digits scoring in a dominating 85-50 win in their Big 12 opener against the Pokes and TCU guard Desmond Bane put up 20.

Coleman and Ramey might have a field day against this Oklahoma State backcourt.
