A group of potential impact names in the NCAA Transfer Portal on the Texas football program is already emerging early in the offseason.

The Texas football program has yet to hit the NCAA Transfer Portal to land any prospect that could fill a positional need heading into the 2020 offseason. But that didn’t stop them in the past from hitting the transfer portal to fill out their roster. We’ll see if they do that again entering the offseason.

Graduate transfers played a big role in the shaping up of depth charts on the Forty Acres pretty much every year since head coach Tom Herman took over in December 2016, and likely will again in 2020.

Texas does head into the 2020 offseason with momentum coming off their Alamo Bowl win on Dec. 31 over the Utah Utes by the final score of 38-10. That gave Texas a record of 8-5 (5-4 Big 12) to salvage the 2019 campaign after a seven win regular season.

However, with the transfer portal becoming a more and more significant storyline each passing college football offseason, Texas could figure into the pursuit of a number of key players. Landing with a team that figures to be a Big 12 Championship and College Football Playoff contender next season isn’t the worst situation for any player in the transfer portal to land into.

Once National Signing Day concludes next month, the transfer portal will be about the last way for respective teams in the Power Five to try and patch together their rosters.

Here’s a look into the five most impactful early entrants into the NCAA Transfer Portal as it relates to the Texas Longhorns football program entering the 2020 offseason.
