Texas Football: 5 most impactful potential transfers early in offseason
Although the TCU Horned Frogs aren’t usually a team that takes on multiple players out of the transfer portal, they will lose key quarterback depth heading into the offseason. Redshirt sophomore former four-star dual-threat quarterback recruit Justin Rogers put his name into the transfer portal and could be one of the more hotly contested candidates this year.
Rogers only ever had one career passing attempt at TCU, for one yard. Head coach Gary Patterson never really had the chance to see the ultra-talented Rogers blossom in front of his eyes. But Rogers wound up having a season-ending knee injury before he could even step foot onto Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth for TCU in game action.
At one point, Rogers caught drop foot syndrome through the recovery process of his knee injury. It looked like he might be out for a long time, or maybe never even play college football. But he reportedly insists that he’s ready to go.
Power Five programs that are looking for a true impact quarterback that can be around for two or three years unite. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor Rogers to land with head coach Jeff Brohm and the Purdue Boilermakers. But it would also make sense for Rogers to land with a crosstown rival of TCU’s, like the Baylor Bears.
