Texas Football: 5 most impactful potential transfers early in offseason
Yet another quarterback transfer that could make an impact on the Texas football program, especially if he lands in the Big 12, is the former Florida Gators starting junior signal caller Feleipe Franks. What Franks will bring with him to his next landing spot is 4,593 career passing yards and 38 touchdowns. He also has just shy of 450 career rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.
The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions for Franks has him landing with former LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles and the Kansas Jayhawks. Franks was knocked out for the 2019 season with an injury against the SEC foe Kentucky Wildcats. That’s when then backup Florida quarterback Kyle Trask took complete control of the offense.
About the best situation that Franks could hope to land in, that is if Gators head coach Dan Mullen is planning on starting Trask moving forward, is similar to that of the Jayhawks. Franks could take his starting quarterback experience from his time in the SEC and try and take Kansas to bowl eligibility.
That would not only help Franks make the most of the final year of his eligibility, but he could help his 2021 NFL Draft stock too. The sizable frame and athleticism of Franks combine with a strong arm to make a great NFL Draft quarterback prospect. He just hasn’t proved himself enough at the college level yet to win over NFL scouts.
