Although he might not be the most highly touted overall or the most crucial prospect for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class to land right away heading into the 2020 college football offseason, this prospect carries more weight with his name. Longhorn football fans should be familiar with the four-star Skyline wide receiver Quaydarius Davis at this point thanks to the recruiting narrative with him so far.

Davis was originally committed to the Longhorns 2021 class, but he re-opened his recruitment after decommitting on Nov. 11. That was just before the Longhorns let go of both wide receivers coaches two months ago, with Drew Mehringer fired and Corby Meekins demoted to a more administrative role.

The previous decommitment from Davis doesn’t mean they still can’t land him again. The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions favor Texas still to land him, with five of six experts leaning their direction.

The 6-foot and 193 pound wide receiver ranks as the nation’s No. 77 2021 high school prospect and the No. 14 at his position. Davis is joining a talented group of 2021 wide receivers that is also very deep. But nabbing him can help the Longhorns make up for losing a lot talent in their wide receiver room in 2019 and a thinner group in the 2020 recruiting class as it appears now.

Texas did find stability within their own coaching staff by hiring former analyst Andre Coleman to be the next wide receivers coach. Coleman has experience as a wide receivers coach when he was also the co-offensive coordinator under former head coach Bill Snyder with the Kansas State Wildcats prior to taking the analyst job with the Longhorns.

That stability should help Texas get Davis back more in a positive light.
