Texas Football: 3 best CB Donovan Duvernay transfer landing spots
Could former Texas football cornerback Donovan Duvernay land with another Power Five program for his redshirt senior season?
A loss to the depth in the cornerback room for the Texas football program came earlier this month with the announcement that former senior DB Donovan Duvernay would be putting his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas can afford to lose Duvernay as it pertains to the starting cornerback battle for next season, but this loss does still hurt for this position group.
Head coach Tom Herman is now out both of the Duvernay’s now on the Forty Acres. Former senior star Texas wide receiver Devin Duvernay will enter the 2020 NFL Draft after he ran out of eligibility. Devin was one of the nation’s most productive wide receivers during the 2019 college football season.
But losing Donovan is going to be something that hurts more in terms of the void of experience than of talent. Duvernay never really got a chance to prove what he can do during his time on the Forty Acres. He only played in one game during his time with Texas, racking up one total tackle. That’s about it for Duvernay as a Texas defensive back.
It does make sense that he would put his name in the transfer portal, especially if he didn’t buy into the schemes that recently hired defensive coordinator Chris Ash brought to the table. Ash is the third defensive coordinator that Duvernay saw at Texas. That’s a hard change to shake.
Here’s a look into the three potential landing spots for the former cornerback of the Texas Longhorns football program Donovan Duvernay after he put his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal.
