3. Oregon State Beavers

This 5-foot-9 defensive back is going to have a hard time thriving wherever he would be regularly facing the tallest and most vertically capable wide receivers in the nation. The Big 12 can be a difficult spot to thrive when a defense like the Texas football program, especially with the scheme they’ll be running under Ash, for a cornerback like Duvernay to find his rhythm.

But the Oregon State Beavers should be a solid landing spot for Duvernay if head coach Jonathan Smith could allow him to play a big role on both defense and special teams. That role is one where Duvernay could establish a possible NFL path for himself. He’s not going to sit in the midst of the radars of NFL scouts given his draft profile at the moment.

The Oregon State defense improved drastically under Smith last season. The Beavers were even a contender to make a bowl game last season. That was a big change from the laughing stock that the Beavers were in the PAC-12 beforehand.

It also helps that Oregon State offered Duvernay when he was a three-star athlete recruit coming out of Sachse High School.

This is going to be a young cornerback room for the Beavers next season, but they could add a veteran to this position group by landing Duvernay. He would also help add speed and versatility to this group. Duvernay would be able to challenge rising senior cornerback Isaiah Dunn and redshirt junior Nahshon Wright for playing time next season.
