Texas Football: 3 best CB Donovan Duvernay transfer landing spots
1. Miami Hurricanes
The most significant program that Duvernay could land with is the one that relies most among all the Power Five programs on the transfer portal in this day and age. Former Texas football defensive coordinator Manny Diaz is now the head coach of the Miami Hurricanes and looks to live by the portal and die by the portal.
But if Duvernay were to try and settle down with Miami for the 2020 season, he would be competing with a lot of young cornerbacks for the 2020 season. Miami will be rolling with a pair of rising junior cornerbacks that could usher in the future of this defensive backfield between Al Blades Jr. and DJ Ivey.
There is a lot of NFL talent on the other cornerback slot with to-be sophomore Te’Corey Couch and senior Trajan Bandy. But Miami finished out their 2019 campaign on such a low note that Duvernay might be turned away by the lack of momentum they have heading into the 2020 season.
Miami didn’t originally offer Duvernay out of Sachse High School during the 2016 recruiting cycle, but they did give him a scout look. That could be enough, along with their strong defensive play from the last two season, to consider taking his talents to Coral Gables, FL, next.
